I am in my mid 50′s and have been getting allery shots fcr about 15 years for seansonal allergies. Will I ever be able to discontinue these shots?
Thanks for your question. Dr. Volcheck’s response is as follows:
“Generally speaking, there is a good chance you would be able to discontinue the allergy shots. The average time that people are on allergy shots for seasonal allergies is five years. The majority of people that discontinue allergy shots after five years continue to have long term improvement. The decision, though, whether to continue or discontinue the allergy shots needs to be individualized. Factors that weigh in on the decision include the overall response to the allergy shots, amount of concomitant medication needed to control symptoms, history of reactions to the shots, expected allergen exposure etc. It would be a good idea to discuss this issue further with your allergist.”
I have had chronic hives for 10 yrs now, is there any new treatments for this? Mine are caused by pressure and scratches.and are delayed for 1-2 hrs.I take H1 and H2 blockers to control it. Which I’m kind of tired of doing all these years
Thanks for your question. We’ll try to get it answered by Dr. Volcheck on the radio show live now. #mayoradio http://cot.ag/gmIM3h
