Rheumatology ~ Arthritis


This program featured Dr. John Davis from Mayo Clinic Rochester talking about arthritis.  We discussed the different types of arthritis and how a diagnoses is made.  We also discussed the different medications available for treatment of arthritis -including glucosamine chondroitin and the latest treatments for rhuematoid arthritis.

    Diagnosed with it 32 years ago.
    Don’t have any indications now.
    But I do have a lot of Back pain now.
    Need to understand the relationship between RA and hypertension and cholesterol.

      Dr. Davis says “Very complicated. The most important relationship is that people with RA are at increased risk of heart disease, i.e. heart attacks. Very important to control the cholesterol levels and blood pressure to decrease risk of subsequent heart diseases.”
